Om Yoga Hobart is....

My passion for yoga began in Hobart over 15 years ago at Satyananda yoga while at university trying to balance work and study and life! Already a sporty person, my practice was firstly another fitness avenue but that slowly developed into something more, finding a deeper level of mindfulness each time I came back to the mat.

Work and love took me to Sydney where I tried Bikram for a few years and was then introduced to a more flowing Vinyasa style. This  resonated more with my personal yoga journey.

The next step was then to become a Yoga Australia recognised teacher at the suggestion of many fellow yogis and teachers alike, studying under the highly regarded Nicole Walsh (formerly Body. Mind. Life. and now InYoga in Surry Hills) who has successfully trained teachers for almost 10 years.

My teaching focus is strongly on correct postural alignment to avoid injury and promoting yoga to support the many other sports and pursuits that we enjoy. All the while, never losing sight of the playful child within us all.

After 10 years in the corporate Sydney world I have returned to my home state and very much enjoying settling back into beautiful Tasmania. Surrounded by friends and family, focusing on building my yoga community, continuing my path to life/balance and bringing the benefits of this age old practice to "all bodies and every body."

Testimonials

"After many years struggling with intense sciatic nerve pain, a sports orthopaedic surgeon advised I was too young for surgery and regular cortisone injections. His recommendation was to start yoga to strengthen my core. Within a few months I noticed reduced pain and was able to drive more than 10 minutes without feeling like a knife was run down the back of my leg. 10 years later with regular yoga practice I have next to none sciatic pain." Shane

"For me some of the poses and why you do them is jelling for me. Being the end of the week, a nice one to finish on to open up your chest and shoulders as our day to day posture is what causes the niggles." Nicola

"Enjoyed a lovely class this morning. Thanks for making me feel comfortable and giving me lots of help. I think I understand now why everybody needs to do yoga regularly. You may have converted me! I will definitely come back." Beck
